about

Random Records presents UP AND COMING CHILDREN, dedicated to the kids; those with a fresh attitude, new on the scene, ready to take over and push things forward.

Tells Snax, “I called a session with Alessandro and Jules of The Snackettes at Jules’ studio for a freeform jam session. What resulted was a ragged yet tight dance floor treat with unusual chord progressions I wouldn’t have come up with on my own. The lyrics concern my constant irritation with purists. See, in any scene, there are always those who think only they know the proper or right ways of doing things...whether it be how to enjoy themselves, how to throw a party, how to produce, or hell, even how to dance. The essence of being Up And Coming means bucking up against all that snobbery. The Children say, feel free to languish in your tired old ways, sukkas. We’ll be continuing to shake things up, forever on our way to the garden of delight.”

Also featured on this latest EP are three new tracks which rock the floor in ever more exciting ways. “150%” is a soul stomper, espousing the joys of being a hot head over a hard beat. “Nothing To Yourself” breaks it down to slower, but no less grinding, territory, as Snax assures his next lover that resistance is futile. Finally, “Phantom Voice” recalls Snax’s earlier work, emerging from the sleazier corners of the world waving his P.Funk flag high.

Snax also has the pleasure of presenting remixes for “Children” from two equally legendary sources. Hard Ton brings an ecstatic 90’s house vibe to the table with a shimmering re-sing by larger than life vocalist Max. On the darker side come Per QX and Elias Bravo, whose sound recalls London’s super party of the moment Gutterslut, where Per is resident.

Here's the"Up and Coming" buzz...

MIXMAG - "Cheeky cowbells, grainy disco synths and even non-cheesy string sections are all cleverly arranged into well formed songs with jazzy overtones."

RICARDO BAEZ (Gomma/ Toy Tonics) - 'Up and Coming children is great! superb hard ton & Per QX - ELias Bravo remix too! well done! Thanks RB'

SAMMY FEDY (LeSale) - 'Great return of SNAX! Really like Up & Coming children and the remixes, but my fav is the laid back Nothing To Yourself'

UP AND COMING CHILDREN

How can you stand yourself?
You’re so uptight
Nothing is ever pure
Nothing is ever right
Well I’m here to say it won’t bring us down
‘Cuz we’re the forthcoming babies and this is the new town
So dig us…

Up and coming children
Don’t lost the feeling
Up and coming children
Don’t lost the feeling

You think you know glamour
Think you’ve seen it all
Danced on every floor
Walked every ball
Well you don’t fool no one
‘Cuz we’re all stars tonight
And we’re on our way to the garden of delight

Up and coming children
Don’t lose the feeling
Up and coming children
Don’t lost the feeling

You pick, prod
And get on my damn nerves
Until it just ain’t cute
Your love’s got me trapped in a corner baby
Till I blow my cool
I don’t wanna second guess
Reactions, distractions
My satisfaction takes
Takes precedence
There’s not contest
So heed my warning
Here it comes, sing

Go forth and coming back
Ain’t no need to pretend
So step off or I’ll react
150%

What you do to me
So damn good you know
I ain’t gonna let you go
But all this play trying
To take me away
I’ll keep ‘em at bay but
First I gotta say

Go forth and coming back
Ain’t no need to pretend
So step off or I’ll react

You can’t hide your desire
This love
You won’t get from no one else
We can get much higher
I gotcha
You can’t keep nothing to yourself

Now the game’s getting slightly tired
All this cat and mouse
You’re a terrible liar
I gotcha
I know you see my house
It’s no use
To stay on the loose
Why fight it?
Don’t deny it
Won’t take too much time
For me
To get inside your mind

You’re an open book
So lemme take a look
Is it 411 or off the hook?

You can’t hold your desire
This love
You won’t get from no one else
We can get much higher
I gotcha
You can’t keep nothing to yourself

Desire’s got the best of me
Like a dog in a cage
What say we skip the show, baby
And head straight backstage?
I gotta work fast
‘cuz I’m sure it won’t last
You out there all alone
With your fine ass
Don’t leave me empty handed
Like a broke hustler with no class

Here comes that phantom voice
Someone pulling my strings
I ain’t got no more choice
I’m a slave to your stuffs and things

Who’s next on the monitor?
Who takes your place?
I can’t edge all day long, baby
And never finish no race
Don’t leave me hanging
Don’t put me off
So much time passing
And still so much to show off

Here comes that phantom voice
Someone pulling my strings
I ain’t got no more choice
I’m a slave to your stuffs and things
